CATEGORY: BREAKING STORY ----------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA SATURDAY May 19,2007 Details are still a bit sketchy, but according to unconfirmed reports reaching Grenadian Connection (GC) from the sister isle of Carriacou, there was a tragic incident during the Big Pan Village Maroon at Limlair last night, which resulted in the death of one of the main organizers. It is believed that sometime during the function, there was some altercation between the deceased and another prominent individual. The fracas, however, was seemingly diffused by some of the persons at the scene. Sometime later on, according to the source, while the ‘Wetting of the Ring’ was taking place (the organizer in the middle of the ring dancing and throwing rice among other things into the crowd) a man allegedly ran through the ring and may have inflicted a wound to the organizer in the process (in front of the large crowd comprising men, women and children). This wound, it is believed, may have resulted in his death. The police on the island were on the scene and are no doubt conducting their investigations.
