Meteorologists have warned residents in the United States and the Caribbean to prepare for a busier than normal hurricane season, which starts on 1 June.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in the US have said they expect 13 to 17 tropical storms, with seven to 10 becoming hurricanes.
Other noted forecasters, including American professor William Gray, are also predicting a busy season.
