GANGA REPLACES INJURED SARWAN AS WINDIES CAPTAIN  
DAREN GANGA was named captain of the West Indies for the remainder of their Test tour of England, replacing the injured Ramnaresh Sarwan. West Indies spokesman Imran Khan said late on Monday that Ganga had been promoted from vice captain for the third Test starting in Manchester tomorrow and the final Test in Chester-le-Street, Durham on June 15. Injured players The West Indies Cricket Board did not say if Ganga would be captain for the subsequent three one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches against England. Sarwan was hurt in his second Test as captain whenhe fell heavily while attempting to stop a drive from England batsman Paul Collingwood on May 25 at Headingley. England won that by an innings and 283 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The first Test at Lord's was a rain-affected draw. Khan also said that Chris Gayle sustained a minor rib muscle tear while bowling in a tour match against a Marylebone Cricket Club team in Durham that ended Sunday, but should play in Manchester. Batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul did not play against the MCC or in the second Test because of a knee injury, but is expected to play in Manchester, adding more experience in the absence of Sarwan.
