HIV CASES ON THE RISE IN GRENADA
A top health official here is reporting a rise in the number of reported HIV casesfor the first six months of the year. Director of the National Infectious Disease Control Unit, Dr. Alister Antoine, said the recording of new cases is a result of the ongoing government initiatives, such as the Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) programme. "There is no doubt that some of the cases being diagnosed this year were influenced by the ongoing VCT programme, which encourages persons to take the test so they can become aware of their HIV status," Dr. Antoine said. Why do we always have to blame goverment. Why can't we blame ourselves (parents). Isn't it wise to sit with our kids and talk to them about sex and using protection. As we all know into days world sex is our number one issue. It's time that all of us come together as a commuity, neighbours, friends and family and help counsel or teach our youths about premature sex and the importance of protection.

Okay, we cannot blame the Government for everything. I believe that Sex Education should be part of school cirriculum. I am not sure if they have it. The more people learn about the consequences of having unprotected sex i believe it would help them change their behavior. Not everyone would change, we have some people that are stubborn and don't care. We need to educate our youths and maybe things would get better. Also, provide more jobs, so our young ladies would not find alternate ways to support themselves.

I don't think there is a rise in cases. I just think more people are getting tested. I am encouraging the use of condoms though matter how old you are. Anyone can be carrying the disease. Everyone have to be responsible for themself. Women don't be afraid to ask your man to wear a condom. Men don't be stupid I know it feel better not using a condom : what's better your life or pleasure

They need to get the young people of Victoria, St.Mark's to get tested because they are living a reckless life. No job and they got to do what ever it takes to maintain their self and children. It's crazy because my uncle is now saying he has hiv. Please promote testing in Victoria, I am concern because that's where I was born and raise. Thank you
