CATEGORY:ENTERTAINMENT --------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA MONDAY July 09,2007 by Wallace J.A ST. ANDREW’S: Organizers from the cultural village of Paraclete, located in the rural parish of St. Andrew, yesterday (Sunday July 8) held a fantastic queen show at the Paraclete Government School. The four contestants – Anastasia Charles, Kindell Murray, Roslyn Courtney and Akisha Phillip – performed in front of a hall that was so packed that it was difficult for patrons to get out of the room once they have entered. The audience was thrilled with entertaining performances from the four contestants as they competed against each other in four categories: casual wear, talent, interview and evening wear. The Master of Ceremony at the show was Mr. Ashley Cummings, who provided the audience with lots of laughter. To all the patrons of the show, there was never a dreary moment. During the intermission periods, there were cultural performances from ‘Joshua’, who did some stand-up comedy and had the crowd roaring with laughter; Richard Courtney, also known as ‘Man-X’, who danced for the crowd and recited poetry and Mrs. Sylvia Nyack, who danced to the song “They have their belly.” Towards the end of the show, there were guest appearances from a number of local soca artistes, among them were the dynamic duo, Luni Sparks and Electrify; Lay-kay; Henry Bridgeman and Hess. The curtains came down on the show with the crowning of the 2007 queen. Miss Kindell Murray edged out the rest of the contestants into first place. She was crowned by the 2006 queen, Miss Anya Cadoo. Miss Akisha Phillip was adjudged first runner up.
