CARIB HURRICANE MAINTAINS THEIR UNBEATEN RUN IN THE GFA...  
CATEGORY:SPORTS (FOOTBALL) ------------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA TUESDAY July 10,2007 by Lester Smith Defending Champions Carib Hurricane maintained their unbeaten run over the weekend when they fought hard to earn a victory against Hard Rock over at the Plains playing field. After a scoreless first half, Terry Augustine opened the scoring for Carib Hurricane with a superb strike inside the 18 yard box. Minutes later, national striker Nickel Paul extended the lead by scoring from a pass from a fee kick. Hard Rock then fought hard to get back in the game and nearly did so after Tyrone John righted footed the ball into the back of the net minutes after Hurricane scored their second goal. The score remain that way to the end of the match: Hurricane 2 v Hard Rock 1. What might have been considered a derby was the clash between Dano Eagles Super Strikers and Alaska Chantimelle. Both teams played to a 1-1 draw over at Fond in St. Patricks. Marcus Julien converted for Eagles while Jess Fergusson scored for Chantimelle. Paradise also maintained their unbeaten run together with Hurricane when they edged past Anchor Queens Park Rangers 1-0 playing infront hundreds of their home fans. National Striker Denis Rennie scored the lone goal of the match. It was a doubleheader at Tanteen on Sunday as fans in St. George’s had the opportunity to see two matches at one venue. At 2:00 pm, Police and South Stars squared of amidst hot arid conditions. It took 70 minutes of playing time for South Stars to open the score-sheet when Sheldon Douglas right footer ended up in the back of the net. Then Micah Stevens sealed victory for South Stars almost to the end of the match.
