Caribbean nationals planning to visit the United Kingdom will have to supply fingerprints when they apply for a visa. The new measure takes effect on July 19. British officials said that the Caribbean is not being targeted and that the initiative is part of a worldwide biometric identification process. The Barbados-based British High Commission said that the process is designed to prevent identity fraud, and abuse of the UK's immigration and asylum systems.
