NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTERING UK |
|
|
Caribbean nationals planning to visit the United Kingdom will have to supply fingerprints when they apply for a visa.
The new measure takes effect on July 19.
British officials said that the Caribbean is not being targeted and that the initiative is part of a worldwide biometric identification process.
The Barbados-based British High Commission said that the process is designed to prevent identity fraud, and abuse of the UK's immigration and asylum systems.
Officials added that the new measure is not expected to lengthen the waiting period for applications.
