FORMER POLISH PRESIDENT VISITS GRENADA
Former President of Poland Lech Walesa has visited Grenada, seeking support of regional governments to help his country win a bid to host the International Exhibition EXPO 2012. In the framework of the Bureau International des Expositions, Poland has proposed an international exhibition with the theme “The Culture of Leisure in World Economies”. The host city is Wroclaw, a dynamic metropolis in the southwest Poland. During his short stay Walesa paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell and other government officials. For Grenada, an international exhibition in Poland, the largest of the new member states in the European Union, would offer unprecedented access to the youth, vitality and dynamic emerging markets of New Europe. Poland’s theme would allow you to promote your unique heritage, tourism resources and best practices in the context of leisure and sustainable development. The promotional power of the event will be augmented by its timing at the height of the European tourist season (June-September 2012) and directly following EURO 2012, the European Soccer Championships – the world’s third largest sporting event – that will be jointly hosted by Poland and the Ukraine. Walesa was the first democratically elected President of the Republic of Poland, whose life’s work has been dedicated to improving Poland’s ability to play an active role in the international community. So far Walesa has visited Barbados, and is schedule to visit Antigua and St Lucia. Reprinted from Caribbean Net News caribbeannetnews.com
