INSIDE GRENADA
SATURDAY July 14,2007
ST.GEORGE’S: On Thursday of this week, Grenada’s Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Keith Mitchell, signed the Paris Club Agreement with the US Ambassador who was on a visit to the Spice Island.
Back in 2006, the Paris Club creditors and the Government of Grenada had an agreement in principle on the re-structuring of Grenada’s external debt. This accord came on the heel of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) endorsement of Grenada’s arrangement under the Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility (PRGF).
The debt rescheduling will save the Government of Grenada somewhere in the vicinity of EC$54M under the present arrangement with the Paris Club for the period 2006 to 2013.
