GRENADIAN ATHLETE EARNS SILVER MEDAL
Grenada's Kirani James earned his country's first ever medal at the Fifth IAAF World Youth Championships yesterday. James clocked 46.96 seconds in the 400 metres to finish second behind gold medal winner Christopher Clarke of Britain. Clarke finished in a time of 46.74 seconds. Sports Minister Roland Bhola hailed James' silver medal as a major achievement for the country. "Kirani's achievement marks another historic day for athletics in Grenada. Moreover, the manner in which Kirani won the silver medal was true testimony of his determination and zeal for success," Bhola said. "He gave of his best and in so doing made his country proud."
