MITCHELL DENIES BEING US CITIZEN
Grenada's Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell, has strongly refuted claims that he is a citizen of the United States of America. The Prime Minister made the comment based on a statement by former Attorney General Lloyd Noel, who said he had been provided with information that the Prime Minister is still a US citizen. He said Mr. Mitchell was sworn in as a citizen in Baltimore in 1984 and has not renounced it. If the allegation is true, it could raise questions about the Prime Minister's eligibility to hold the post of Head of Government since the law prevents citizens of non-Commonwealth countries from holding elected office in Grenada. The citizenship controversy has gained momentum in Grenada, following the lawsuit filed in the United States court against Prime Minister Mitchell and his wife. It was filed by an American who claims they were the beneficiaries of stolen funds by jailed former Grenada diplomat Eric Resteiner. Reprinted from radioja.com

MITCHELL DENIES BEING US CITIZEN
The PM of Grenada is NOT a US citizen - Not any more! This is how it works. One can have dual citizenship as a Grenadian. You cannot hold any other citizenship if you are an American. You can only hold Americian citizenship as an American citizen. If you are a Naturalized citizen as the PM WAS - once you become a political representative of any country, other than the United States, your citizenship automatically changes to that of a diplomatic status. You do not have to denounce or do anything to change your status. The US dictates that by virtue of their standing policy. The PM could not be a US citizen even if he wanted too. The reason being He must agree to bear arms in support of the US against any and all other nation if necessary. And this WILL include Grenada. The US wants total loyalty and patriotism. Where does this brainiacs get their information? Grenadians please think a little for yourselves.

There's nothing no-one can do to please us Grenadians. After one thing its a next, The Prime Minister has done a lot for the Country and as far as the eye can see its just the opposition that's trying their best to destabilize the Country. What has happened in the past let it very well stay in the past and lets move on with the rebuilding efforts of the country.

I would not put anything pass this man, and I hate to hear us Grenadian saying, (Forget the Petty Politics). We the citizens of the country have the right to know what the people who say they are heads of Govt. are doing, even if it turns out to be faulse, but we know some of their previous records, and it's still in our faces, but the hyporcracy in some of us we pretend to play we are so upright.

I don't think that P.M. Mitchell will go that low as to deny that he is not a U.S. citizen when he knows that the information can be verified easily. It time that we Grenadians leave the petti politics behind and get on with the nation building.
