GEORGE’S: Grenada’s Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell, yesterday met with a group of young people to discuss matters pertaining to youth empowerment as well as the problems and challenges that they are confronted with on a daily basis. The meeting was arranged by Senator Emmalin Pierre, Grenada’s Youth Minister. The young people were able to engage the Prime Minister in frank discussions about the state of the job market and training opportunities for the nation’s youth, sports, crime and delinquent behavior among some young persons throughout the county. The group of young people was very concerned about the activities of some of their delinquent peers and demonstrated an eagerness to assist in spreading positive messages to these individuals with a view to encouraging them to turn away from their delinquent activities. Dr Mitchell promised to help these young people by bringing resources into their communities and getting persons from different sectors of the society to visit communities and talk to young people about choices and opportunities. He informed them about the programs and projects that will be coming on stream and urged them to try and prepare themselves for the opportunities that these initiatives will present.
