One of the most humorous nights in the Grenada calypso Calendar is set to unfold this Saturday at Fantazia as the club presents the annual talk-ah Kaiso competition. The country’s leading Calypsonians will come up against defending champion 4 Brass in what has become one of the most looked forward to event immediately after the Carnival. 2006 Champion Mr. Lenz will be defending the Challenge Trophy. On Saturday at Fantazia Calypsonians will be competing in the 12th annual staging of the talk ah kaiso competition. Over the years the event has drawn a huge following of local and visiting fans and this year’s event promises to be equally entertaining. Calypsonians in the line up this year will include Sour Serpent, Small Pin, Pupa Lindee, Talpree, Randy Isaac Mr. Killer, Papa Jerry, Soca Sterling , Spontaneous, Zingo, Marvin Ranks, They will try to unseat 4 Brass who won the competition in an exciting night of talk ah kaiso in 2006. A panel of local judges will use the criteria of , 30 Points for drama, 30 Points Originality, 30 Points Humor and 10 Points Crowd response. The organizers of talk ah-kaiso believe the show, which has maintained a high standard throughout the years, is appealing because of its humorous nature. It involves artistes using a conversational approach to rendering their songs without any form of singing. Calypsonians will be competing for prize monies in excess of EC$ 10,000.00 The talk ah kaiso show at Fantazia is also significant in light of concerns about the need for more humour in Calypso. The 12th annual talk ah kaiso competition starts 11 o clock this Saturday, 18th August at Fantazia.
