ST.GEORGE’S – Grenada’s main opposition political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reactivated its disaster fund to help Caribbean countries that were left reeling from the onslaught of Hurricane Dean.
The fund was first set up in 2004 to assist the American Red Cross in their work here in Grenada after Hurricane Ivan struck the island on September 7, 2004.
According to Tillman Thomas, Leader of the Opposition and political leader of the NDC, the party has started the account with a contribution of EC$1,000.00. He encouraged Grenadians to make contributions towards the disaster relief fund so as to assist our neighbors in Jamaica, Dominica, Martinique and St. Lucia who are experiencing hardships as a result of Dean’s dreadful wrath. These countries had offered assistance to Grenada after Hurricane Ivan and Thomas thinks it is now time for Grenadians to return the kindness.
The account was established at the Grenada Co-operative bank. The account number is 100003396.
