COMMISSION OF ENQUIRY HOLDS HEARING AT GRENADA TRADE CE...
CATEGORY:INVESTIGATION --------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA TUESDAY August 21,2007 ST. GEROGE’S: The Cheltenham Commission, which was set up by Grenada’s Governor General in 2004 to look into allegations of financial impropriety against Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell, is scheduled to hold a meeting today at the Grenada Trade Center. The allegations against the Prime Minister stem from an investment promotional trip he made to Europe and Kuwait in June 2000. Dr. Mitchell has been accused of accepting US$500,000 in bribe money from international conman Eric Restiner in exchange for a diplomatic posting. The Prime Minister, however, has consistently maintained his innocence, stating that he had received approximately US$15,000 from Restiner to cover the expenses involved in his investment promotional trip.

Derick I congratulate you for your direct comment. I love the way you put it in their faces. And if some of us Grenadians are straight forward and say it like it is our beautiful Island would not have been placed the 2nd. in Fraud. Good Comment Derick.

The prime minister had to know by accepting cash in conjunction with non traceable paper work for the money from Restiner,Would amount to potential fraud.Secondly, the Prime Minister went to these countries on Grenada's business,And as the prime minister, had no business accepting any money on a personal basis. If this stroy is ture, I'm very dissapointed with the P.Ms' Judgement and I'm calling on the house to immediately introduce bills in the house to deal with transperency of all government matter. The PM has to understand, when he goes on Grenadian business, it's not his personal accord and should be treated as such. Thirdly I'll like to know, if non Grenadian Restiner,Had held any diplomatic post for Grenada? If the above allegations are true,I think the P.M should do the Moral and Ethical thing and Gracefully Step down from Office.
