CHINA PROVIDES EIGHT MORE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR GRENADIAN ST...

GEORGE’S: On September 4, eight young Grenadians will be leaving the Spice Isle to travel to the Peoples Republic of China where they will be furthering their studies over the next four years. Angela Commissiong, Sharon Julien, Ann Marie Alexander, Thera Alexander, Aaron Gray, Rawle Patterson, Eamon Smith and Servando Smith are the latest recipients of scholarships made possible by the Chinese Government. They will be pursuing studies in the areas of Sociology, Media Communications, Finance and Computer Studies. In a short ceremony held to address the students, Mr. Joslyn Whiteman, Grenada’s ambassador to the Peoples Republic of China, congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to work very hard. He told them that traveling to China to pursue studies is a once in a lifetime opportunity and although they had to travel very far, it is am opportunity that they will appreciate in the long run. His Excellency Qian Hong Shang, China’s ambassador to Grenada, wished the students all the best in their studies. He told them that they were going to enjoy their life and study in China, just like the fifteen Grenadian students that are already there. Grenada’s Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell, who also addressed the students, emphasized the significance of education in the future development of the country. He also encouraged them to make maximum use of the opportunities that were afforded them.
