CATEGORY:EDUCATION ---------------------- INSIDE GRENADA THURSDAY August 30, 2007 GRENADA: Distribution of vouchers under the Government of Grenada’s Primary School Financial Assistance Programme commenced on Monday 27th August, 2007 and continued throughout the country until Wednesday 29th August, 2007. The Programme is geared to assist the neediest students by providing assistance in the form of uniforms, books, and other necessities. The programme, which was initiated a decade ago with support from friendly governments, continues to be a beacon of hope for parents who are unable to provide the tools for their children to learn. In 2003 more than 2220 students were assisted at a cost of more than $400,000.00 ECD. The Government of Grenada has been solely funding the programme since 2005. In 2005 more than 3000 students were assisted at a cost of more than $570,000.00 ECD. In 2006, Three Thousand Six hundred and Forty students benefited from the programme with total assistance reaching $604,600.00 ECD. This year is no exception with total assistance reaching approximately $950,000.00 ECD. Reprinted from grenadaedu.com

I thank the government for what they are trying to do for education for our island. However is it more feasible for the goverment to buy the books put in the classroom. They can be used over n over again. When you buy in bulk it cost you cheaper. If there is a changes in the book list which I am sure is approve by the government they already have a heads up. These books can be used year after year.
