WILDMAN GIVES UP ON BECOMING AG
Hugh Wildman, the Jamaican who is the special legal advisor to the government of Grenada, says he has given up all hope of becoming the country's Attorney General. This follows the London-based Privy Council's rejection of his appeal for a review of the Judicial and Legal Services Commission's rejection of his nomination. The Law Lords dismissed a petition from Mr. Wildman for special leave to make an application to challenge the Commission's 2005 decision to reject his nomination as Attorney General. In December 2004, the Keith Mitchell government recommended to the Commission that Mr. Wildman be appointed Attorney General, a move opposed by the Grenada Bar Association. The Bar association then organised a street protest and court boycott which affected the operation of the legal system in the country. Mr. Wildman was subsequently appointed Special Legal Counsel to the government. Reprinted from radioja.com
