CATEGORY:WEATHER NEWS ------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA SATURDAY AUGUST 1, 2007 ST.GEORGE’S, GRENADA: Tropical storm Felix passed over Grenada just around 4 am this morning with storm force winds forcing power outages throughout most of the island. Storm force winds continued into the early morning with heavy rains starting around 7:30 am. Reports from throughout the country include the following: Heavy winds forcing rain water into houses through window and door openings. One report said that a door was removed by the winds in the south of the island. Very early reports indicate that the agriculture sector is mildly affected. Avocado, banana, plantains, corn, peas and tomato are just some of the crops that have fallen from the heavy winds. The extent of the damage to the country’s reviving banana industry will be reported on soon. There is also report of a fallen tree in the Balthazer area - along the Grand Etang main road - which has temporarily blocked traffic. Amid all this, minimal vehicular traffic is seen and the public market in the island’s second largest town, Grenville, is operational. Only moments ago, the National Disaster Management Authority, NaDMA, sent text message via cell phones saying that Storm warning is still in effect and that the power and radio signals which were out will be restored after the all clear is given. The main system has since passed and currently, the weather is clearing-up and normal conditions are expected to return towards mid-day. More updates, including photos, will be provided later on after a more comprehensive survey is conducted. Meanwhile, aircraft test landings are scheduled to take place today at the Pearls air strip, located in the eastern parish of St.Andrew. These test landings are linked to one of the major government supported investment project in Levera located in the north of the island. Pearl’s airport was out of operation since the commissioning of the Point Saline International Airport in the south of the island. Later on this afternoon, a scheduled Under 23 soccer match is to be played between Grenada and Barbados at the Victoria Park, Grenville.

TROPICAL STORM FELIX RAGED OVER GRENADA
Mr.Beggs, I really want to know when SaaaSS chlidren going to go back to school. Last I heard is that some may be going to the Centre in Grenville, some in Pearls, some in the unsafe compounds in Telescope(under re-construction)and they having their first assembly in the RCchurch in Grenville. well I never see more. Like the school well mash up now. And that is despite the good showing in the CSEC CXC exams. I wonder who really trying to mash up SaaaSS? Is it the EO Miss Felix,The CEO Mr. Ogilvie (like he ent konw if he coming or going since the PS Mr. Baptiste doing his work for him) or the PS since he dont know where the boundaries of his job/post start or end or the Minister Madam Charles as she ent know a damn about SaaaSS and could not care less. All SaaaSS people better get up and get cause soon they will not have a school to call their own. SaaaSS will be no more Wallace! Talk to your headteacher seriously.
