The Taiwanese foreign ministry says it will help to retrieve bad loans from nations that have severed formal diplomatic relations with the country.
A spokesman said the ministry will not sit idly by at a time when local institutions were having trouble securing repayments from countries which switched relations to rival China.
The spokesman was referring to a newspaper article suggesting that Taiwan had incurred losses of $100 million from loans to former allies.
Grenada is thought to be among those countries defaulting on loans from the country.
