SIR JOHN’S FUNERAL SCHEDULED FOR EARLIER DATE
The body of St. Lucia's late Prime Minister Sir John Compton will be cremated following a State funeral in the capital, Castries next week Tuesday, September 18. Tuesday morning a government spokesman said the date for the funeral, which was previously given as September 22, had been advanced at the request of Lady Janice Compton and her family. He said full details would be disclosed during a news conference later this week. Sir John, who was 82, died late Friday after months of illness. Officials in St. Lucia say his body will lie in state at the House of Assembly on Friday and again next week for public viewing. This is the first time St. Lucia will host a funeral for a sitting Prime Minister. Reprinted from radioja.com
