GOVERNMENT PROMISES MORE SUPPORT FOR THE CRAFT AND GIFT...
CATEGORY:PRESS CONFERENCE ----------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA SATURDAY September 15,2007 ST.GEORGE’S: Prime Minister Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell met with the tenants of the Grenada Craft Centre on September 13th to discuss opportunities to expand the viability of the centre. This meeting follows a meeting with a broader group of Craft Producers in Grenada that took place nearly a month ago where similar issues about the viability and development of the sector were discussed. The Government of Grenada is undertaking a number of initiatives to support Grenada's craft and gift sector, through a variety of programmes under development with international donors and local governmental support. Prime Minister Mitchell committed his support and commitment to ensuring that the tenants of the Craft Centre are engaged and benefit from these programmes wherever possible. Taking a responsive approach to the concerns and opportunities raised by the tenants, the Prime Minister has also invited the group to prepare a detailed outline of the key challenges, and opportunities that exist for this valuable sector. Once the tenants have produced a document that outlines the facts as they relate to addressing the short term and long term needs in a feasible manner, a commitment has been made to bring that proposal forward to Cabinet for consideration.
