TAMCC SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING.

CATEGORY:EDUCATION ---------------------- INSIDE GRENADA TUESDAY September 18,2007 by Allan Campbell The TA Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Office of Chinese Language Council International, through the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China; facilitating the arrival of a lecturer in the Chinese language to the College. On Wednesday September 5, 2007, a short signing ceremony was held at the college; Acting Principal Dr. Jeffery Britton signed on behalf of the College while facilitated by Counselor at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Grenada Han Tao. Counselor Han said this was further indication of the strengthening of relations between China and Grenada; he said he was pleased to know that Chinese will soon be taught in Grenada. Acting Principal of the College; Dr. Jeffery Britton said he was excited to have this programme begin at TAMCC since Chinese is becoming an important language in light of China’s advancement in the economic and technological spheres internationally. He said the aim is to have Chinese taught at the Degree level in the not too distant future. Already the Chinese Language Council International has identified Ms. Fu Xinqing; a senior lecturer at the Nanchang University in China as the person to serve at TAMCC for an initial period of Two (2) years. Ms. Fu holds a Master’s Degree in Chinese Language and Literature and has been a lecturer since 2000; teaching courses on basic and intermediate Chinese Language and Literature and modern Chinese language. She will now join the newly established Department of Modern Languages in the School of Arts, Science and Professional Studies at the College. Costs for Ms. Fu’s international travel and salary will be met by the Chinese Language Council International while the College will be responsible for her accommodation and insurance.
