DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAMME FOR REGION
A number of Caribbean countries are looking to adopt a United Nations sponsored model for reducing domestic violence, following early indications of its success in Grenada over the past two years. The “Batterer Intervention Programme”, as it is called, is aimed at preventing abusers from re-offending by helping them accept responsibility for their actions rather than blaming their victims. The programme is also in place St. Lucia, with facilitators to be trained soon in Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica. Reprinted from bbccaribbean.com
