MP'S DUAL CITIZENSHIP DOES NOT BREACH CONSTITUTION--ATT...
In Grenada, a former Attorney General says opposition Member of Parliament Peter David's dual citizenship is not a breach of the constitution. The government had taken the matter to the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Supreme Court, claiming that Mr. David could not serve as a parliamentarian because he holds both Grenadian and Canadian citizenship. Peter David prevailed in the lower courts and the government had sought leave from the Eastern Caribbean Court of Appeal to take the matter to the Privy Council. Former attorney general Francis Alexis who represents Mr. David said he does not understand why the government was pushing the matter as the constitution is clear on the issue.
