PARADISE IS CHAMPIONS OF THE 2007 GFA PREMIER LEAGUE

CATEGORY:SPORTS(FOOTBALL) ---------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA WEDNESDAY October 03,2007 by Lester Smith ST.ANDREW'S: It was triumphant scenes on Sunday over at the Victoria Park in Grenville as Paradise celebrated for the second time in three (3) years the most coveted prize in local football; the Premier League Championship Title. It was a hard fought victory as Chantimelle pushed ahead with an early goal to send a scare to the hundreds of supporting Paradise fans. Moments later Paradise clinched the equalizer from the penalty mark. National Midfielder Shane Rennie converted for Paradise. Both teams were quite aware of the need to win; Chantimelle trying to avoid the relegation zone and Paradise edging closer the Championship Title. Then came the moment of magic. Curt Rennie, leading goalscorer for Paradise this season found himself unmarked just outside the six (6) yard box, rocketed a shot after receiving a cross ball from one of his teammates. The goal proved to be the winning goal as the match ended 2-1 in favor of Paradise. Moments after the match ended, the news broke that defending Champions Carib Hurricane drew their encounter 2-2 with Dano Eagles Super Strikers. It was there and then that the Paradise players, Technical staff and fans began to celebrate another championship title. With two rounds of matches remaining Paradise will still have to journey over to Victoria to face Hurricane next Sunday. In other matches played, edged closer for a third spot when they had a comfortable 3-0 victory over South Stars at Tanteen. GBSS is now on 22 points only five (5) points away from third place Queens Park Rangers who drew 1-1 against bottom place Police over at Queens Park. Fontenoy United, who struggled in the first round of the competition, has had an impressive run in the second round of the competition and has pulled away from the relegation zone. Their latest victory came when they journeyed up to Plains in St. St. Patrick’s. They defeated Hard Rock 3-0 and is occupying the sixth spot.

thank you liz.but it says two rounds,not two games.how many games in a round?

Well John a k a Stallion, it could mean that Paradise is so far ahead on point standing that even though the second place team wins its next two matches outright, they will not come close to Paradise. What do you think?

can someone explain,how could there be two rounds of matches remaining and paradise are champions?
