MC DONALD'S COLLEGE MAINTAINS UNBEATEN RUN

CATEGORY:SPORTS(FOOTBALL) --------------------------- INSIDE GRENADA MONDAY October 08,2007 by Lester Smith With a maximum of nine (9) points from three (3) matches, defending champions Mc Donald College (MDC) would fancy their chances of retaining the coveted Secondary Schools Football Championship Trophy. College edged past former champion GBSS 1-0 at Fond. The goal was scored directly from the penalty spot by Karim John. However, the player to look out for in the Tournament is National Youth Player Chevy Augustine. Chevy plays the libero role for his team as Coach Nicholas recognizes how important a player he is to the side. In other matches played in that Division, Grenville Secondary School (GSS) and Presentation Brothers College (PBC) produced much excitement at Tanteen. A total of nine (9) goals were scored in the match which ended 5-4 in favor of GSS. SAASS didn?t have to touch the ball to add three (3) points to their standings when their won by default over the Westerhall Secondary School. Mc Donald College lead the standings on a maximum of nine points from three matches followed by Grenville Secondary with six points from three matches and SAASS with six points from two matches. SAASS will host Mc Donald College in their next encounter. In Zone A, St. John?s Christian Secondary School (SJCSS) leads the standings on seven (7) points after three (3) matches. Their latest victory came when they journeyed to Queens Park to face Boca Secondary. A pair of goals from both Shevon Sampson and Donnel Braithwaite produced a 4-0 victory for the St. John?s Christian Secondary School. Grenada Seventh Day Adventist edged past Happy Hill 3-2 at the River Sallee. A double from Demron Daniel and another from Akim Lalite secured victory and a second spot in the standings for the St. Patrick?s youngsters. Even though St. Mark?s Secondary School (SMSS) were without two of their key players, the likes of Skipper Shannon Phillip and Nickel Paul who was away on national duty, they managed quite comfortable their second victory of the tournament. A goal each from Rohan George, Kimon Julien, Rickel Augustine and Jackson Phillip led the St. Mark?s outfit to a second consecutive victory.
