GRENADIAN GOVERNMENT DISMISSES TB REPORTS
The Grenada government Wednesday said it would not tolerate rumours it said were designed to create panic within the society and also damage the island's tourism sector. National Security, Implementation and Information Minister, Einstein Louison, told a news conference Wednesday that he was demanding a retraction of a letter written by Grenada Bar Association (GAB) President Ruggles Ferguson regarding a possible outbreak of tuberculosis at the Richmond Hills Prisons. But Mr. Ferguson said he would not retract the statement and added that he has also written a letter to the Chief Medical Officer reiterating the lawyers' concerns and requesting that urgent attention be paid to the situation. He also called on the Ministry of Health to "reveal the true situation at the prison," noting that "other medical persons have been expressing serious concerns about the situation.
