CATEGORY:WEATHER -------------------- INSIDE GRENADA FRIDAY October 12,2007 From NaDMA (The following is a press release from the National Disaster Management Agency - NaDMA) As a result of the persistent rains being experienced over the last twelve (12) hour, a team from the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) made a tour of the island today to follow up on reports of damage throughout the country. The following have been reported Flooding, infrastructural damage & landslides were reported in the parishes of St. Andrew, St. John & St. David and some small farms have sustained some damage as a result of the flooding. The upper and lower Balthazar bridges were flooded out, with minor damage to the newly built Balthazar Bridge. Some houses in area were also flooded. A downed power line in St. Clouds Other minor landslides have been reported. NaDMA wishes to advise the public to continue to exercise precaution since more landslides are expected due to the over saturation of the soil. Persons living in flood prone areas are asked to take extra precautions since more showers are anticipated.
