GRENADIAN JUDICIAL SYSTEM BACK TO NORMAL AFTER TB SCARE...
In Grenada, the High Court Monday resumed hearing cases involving remand prisoners after declaring that it was satisfied that health officials had adequately responded to concerns about a possible Tuberculosis outbreak at the island's main prison. One day before the start of the October Assizes, the Grenada Bar Association wrote to High Court judge Justice Clare Henry expressing concerns about an alleged outbreak of the disease among some inmates at the Richmond Hill Prison. This caused the court to adjourn the arraignment of prisoners. The Court official was unable to provide a specific figure regarding the number of prisoners who were affected by the decision to adjourn matters involving remand prisoners. Allegations of the likelihood of a TB outbreak at the prison, was raised by the Bar Association president, Ruggles Ferguson, in a letter to Health Minister Ann David Antoine. But the Government immediately sought to allay fears over reports of a possible tuberculosis outbreak at the prison. Reprinted from radioja.com
