STATEMENT FROM THE NEW NATIONAL PARTY
CATEGORY:ELECTIONS --------------------- INSIDE GRENADA NOVEMBER 04,2007 The New National Party NNP is appalled by comments made in Parliament on Friday 26th October 2007 by Opposition Senator George Prime about what he stated as a loss of approximately ten thousand names from the current list of Electors. NNP sees such comments as an Opposition ploy, once again designed to create panic in our Nation, for which Senator Prime and his associates are well famous for. The NNP, however, welcomes the response from the Office of the Supervisor of Elections, informing the public that systems are running efficiently and effectively and in the case of such a situation where there are problems with computers, there's a back-up system in place. We must be reminded that the Organization of American States, by its very ideals of strengthening democracies of Member States, has been assisting Grenada to have Electoral functions run smoothly and unblemished, particularly with the computerization of systems at the Parliamentary Elections Office. The OAS is a reputable organization, with its mandate of helping underdeveloped Nations to be developed and this is why NNP sees Senator Prime's statement as an attack on the creditability of the OAS, which has Worldwide acclaim in conducting its operations. What is rather distasteful and dangerous is that Senator Prime did not even bother to check first with the Supervisor of Elections for an authoritative comment on the matter before coming to Parliament to politic publicly on the issue. If he had checked, he would have realized that there wasn't any need for his manner of propagandization. He would have known that all information pertinent to voter registration is available and not a single name has been lost, as it was well stated by the Supervisor of Elections. NNP believes that as a Member of Grenada's decision-making, Senator Prime should be more responsible. His actions could only tell one story. It leads us to believe that he takes pride and glory in cultivating the scare tactics of his NDC Opposition but as the Nation realizes by now it is going a bit too far. Senator Prime and his NDC colleagues are activists of this political culture, formulating lies, propaganda and rumour-mongering to fool the Nation. Their intention is similar to that of Ruggles Ferguson, the President of the Grenada Bar Association, who felt it was good for him to spark fear and panic in our population to help germinate his selfish political ends complaining about Tuberculosis in Prison, seeking to destroy the Tourism Industry. NNP issues a call for the Opposition to come straight and not walk the crooked path trying to fool ordinary people. In dealing with the matter of voter registration, however, NNP is advising all persons over the voting age to take the continuous registration process seriously. It is your right. You cannot take chances with the peace and prosperity of our Nation now enjoys. The strides the NNP administration has made over the years have highlighted the resilience of our people. That should not be destroyed. Be reminded that the yellow ID cards have expired and are no longer valid. NNP's advice to you is to make sure you are registered and you are the holder of a blue ID card

STATEMENT FROM THE NEW NATIONAL PARTY
If I were you I would not worry too much .. Just make sure you have all it takes to show that you both have been registered ... I live in Canada and we not too long had Provencial Elections and quite a number of people came to the polls with their voters card and when we checked they were not on the list but once they come with the proper ID and something with their address they were allowed to vote .. Even those who were registered had to produce ID picture as well as something Proper a Bill for that matter with their address to prove that they were from the RIDING/ Constituency where they were going to vote .. I trust that this is what goes on in Grenada.. People could be deceitful all over the world so that is why these checks are done they'll try to vote more than one place . Have no fear with proper ID they can't stop you
