ST. ANDREW’S CRICKET LEAGUE HOLDS ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMON...

ANDREW’S: The Carib sponsored St. Andrew’s Cricket League (SACL) held its annual prize-giving function on Saturday November 10, 2007. The event was held at Papa D’s – located in the rural village of Mirabeau inside of Big Parish (St. Andrew). The gala function was attended by many distinguished persons, like Hon. Allen Walker, Parliamentary Representative for the area; Hon. Roland Bhola, Minister of Sports; Hon. Kenrick Fullerton; Dr. Rudy Webster, former West Indies team psychologist and head of the now dormant Cricket Academy at the St. George’s University; former Grenadian and Windward Islands cricketer, Steve Mahon; representatives from the Grenada Breweries Limited, among others. Dr. Rudy Webster delivered the keynote address at the prize-giving ceremony. The SACL has demonstrated over the years that it one of the most disciplined, professional and efficient organizations on the island. The league has been successfully planning and overseeing cricket competitions throughout St. Andrew’s for more than two decades. This year, approximately forty-six teams participated in the cricket tournament. The teams were divided into four divisions (A, B, C and D). The success of the SACL over the years has enabled the organization to attract sponsorship from one of the islands most well-known corporate bodies, the Grenada Breweries (Carib). Carib has been providing sponsorship for the league over the past six years. The statistical highlights of the function are as follows: DIVISIONAL WINNERS Division A: 1st Place – R E Walker River View; 2nd Place – R E Walker Idlers; 3rd Place – Tillock’s Flashbackers Division B: 1st Place – Mt. Rose All Stars; 2nd Place – Lower Capitol Bombers; 3rd Place – Revival Stars Division C: 1st Place – La Tante Sports; 2nd Place – La Digue Sports; 3rd Place – Tivoli Veterans Division D: 1st Place – SDA Victors; 2nd Place – Bamboo Uprising; 3rd Place – Mt. Rose Academy HIGHEST SCORES A: Kyron Andrew (Tillock’s Flashbackers) 780 runs B: Lashley John (Super Dads) 718 runs C: Andre Fletcher (La Tante) 337 runs D: Derrol Redhead (Mt. Rose Academy) 536 runs MOST WICKETS A: Glenroy Prince (R E Walker Idlers) 93 wickets B: Dellon Jeffery (Revival Stars) 50 wickets C: Willet Hillaire (Tivoli Veterans) 37 wickets D: K.
