GOVERNMENT MOVES TO REOPEN PEARLS AIRPORT
Government in Grenada has announced plans to reopen the country's second airport to support a major hotel development project in the north of the country. Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Dr. Clarice Modeste-Curwin says a request to reopen Pearls has been made to the Antigua-based Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA). The ECCAA is the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) institution responsible for regulating aviation safety and security within the OECS member states in accordance with international standards. "We are still waiting on a final word from them because they have to give approval for the use of the airstrip," said Modeste-Curwin. Reprinted from jamaica-gleaner.com

This is a great opportunity for St. Andrew's as a whole. It will really boost the economy and the quality of life of many people. The housing issue might be a problem but it can be worked out. Hazzel Ann Cadoo-Sutton

While it is understandable that OECS monitor and regulate air travel in the region, If grenada see it fit to open pearsl air port for its economic growth and development, there should no reason that Grenada must wait on their OK. Next ting dey will tell Grenadians when dey must use dey toilet! We have come to far and still have a ways to go FEBN!

That's a wonderful idea. I hope it happens. Big Parish will be going places & a very important part of Grenada once again. It will be great to redevelope the area especially Seamoon's pavilion & provide much needed jobs. Well my hopes are up, for such a project will definitely mean doing something about the town of Grenville too.

I agree with Bayrum. noise etc, but we always had people living around the airport .. It is those up on the "other" side Squatting that have to get their act together. We can't let some people keep us back ... I am of the opinion that it is an Airport the same way that "Pearl's' was is what the Government is looking at .. Once is something for the Country to benefit I see no reason not to go ahead and get plans in motion... don't forget just like in Politics.. Talk is Cheap and opposition is to oppose People in Charge do what is Best for the Country
