CATEGORY:SPORTS(FOOTBALL) ------------------------------ INSIDE GRENADA NOVEMBER 24,2007 by Wallace J.A GRENADA: The staff and students of the St.Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School (SAASS) are probably still in an extremely jubilant mood after Thursday’s thrilling soccer victories at the Tanteen Playing Field. The school won the finals in both the female and male (senior) categories of the Republic Bank's Right Start Football Tournament. SAASS made it through to the finals in four different categories: the junior league, the Knock-out open, the senior league and the ladies’ league. The school was defeated by St. Mark’s Secondary in both the Knock-out final and the junior final, but rebounded well to win their final two games at Tanteen on Thursday. In the Ladies’ final, the girls from SAASS came up against St. Rose Modern Secondary. Both teams seemed evenly matched and after regulation time, the score was 0-0. The game then went into penalty kicks.SAASS had the better of the exchange and emerged winner after Lisha Williams of SAASS converted her penalty. SAASS won the game 1-0. In the Republic Bank Right Start senior finals, SAASS again confronted their nemesis, St Mark’s Secondary school, and defeated them 1-0. The lone goal in the thrilling encounter was scored by Keri Lewis during the first half of the game. Michael ‘Niko’ Felix, coach of SAASS, received the tournament’s Coach of the Year award. The captain of the SAASS female team, Lyndonna Rennie, was adjudged MVP of the female league. Grenadian Connection (GC) wishes to congratulate SAASS and all the other winning teams in this year’s football tournaments.

It is good to know that SAASS did so well this year. Congratulations to all persons involved. It will be nice if the public can get to know more about what is taking place at other schools.

"Go SAASS go doh give up!" We old Inter-Col line. Ciongrts to the players, coaches especially Nico, Sports Department, staff and the administration. This augers well for more successes. Remember Inter-Col coming up. I hope they have been training already. And that is not a ONE MAN show(coaching-wise). I hope everybody on board for this one. I overs certain teachers were against the principal taking back second year Fifth Formersc especially the athletes. They even cut down Paul Scoon Fambouyant tree. They better plant it back quick quick.
