CATEGORY:POLITICS --------------------- INSIDE GRENADA THURSDAY December 06, 2007 from the Opposition NDC Michael Church is an Educator and Development Consultant who believes that it is necessary to retool Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique to find its rightful place in the modern world. In recent years, he has seen government neglect and mismanagement cause this country to flounder and lose its way. He therefore got fully involved in politics as part of the movement for change. Michael Church is most concerned about: • The neglect of agriculture and fisheries development in St. John’s • The plight of farmers, agricultural workers, fishermen, fish vendors and their families • The neglect of the health needs of children, senior citizens and disadvantaged persons • The neglect of the sporting and recreational facilities that should be serving the citizens of St. John’s • The high levels of underemployment and unemployment among young people • The deterioration in the infrastructure of this country especially roads,bridges and public buildings. At a national level, he is appalled at the social and moral decay, the rising national debt, the high cost of living and the widespread corruption. For him,this country is in dire need of good governance. Michael is proud to be a member of the leadership caucus of the National Democratic Congress. He is delighted to be in the company of honest, well educated and committed leaders. He brings to the table a solid education from Grenada Boys’ Secondary School, St. John’s Christian College and higher education from the Grenada Teachers’ College, the University of Havana, the University of Camaguey, North Carolina State College and the University of Manitoba. He specialized in Education and Agricultural Economics. He has worked as Chief Technical Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture and Lecturer at the T. A. Marryshow Community College. Michael is very passionate about imparting life skills and better organisational approaches to work. He believes that Grenada can only compete successfully in the global marketplace by sharpening the skills of all its citizens. He is adamant that there is strength in unity. He therefore wants to see more of his countrymen and women organising their communities, developing sporting organisations and joining forces for business enterprise. Michael and his wife, Lyndonna, have five children. He believes that it is the duty of all responsible adults to endeavour to leave their country in a better state than they found it, for future generations. Michael believes that Grenada needs a period of healing under a more caring NDC Government after the ravages of the last 12 years.
