CATEGORY:EDUCATION ------------------------ INSIDE GRENADA FRIDAY December 07,2007 from the Ministry of Education The public is advised that, based on the most recent assessment of the status of the ongoing reconstruction work at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School, the project is now expected to be completed by December 30, 2007. This revised date is 6 weeks later than previously projected. According to the contractor Mr. Francis Jeremiah, the school is 95% complete and all materials needed to complete reconstruction are now available on site. It should be noted that the delays completing the work earlier were caused by a number of factors, the most significant of which were delays in the shipment of materials which had to be brought in from overseas. A meeting between officials of the Ministry of Education, the contractor, the consultant to the project and the school, agreed that the work could be completed in time for resumption of school for all students at the beginning of the new term in January 2008. In the meantime the following will be done: The students of Forms 4 and 5 will continue to attend school daily to ensure that they are fully prepared for the CXC examinations next year; The students of Forms 1-3 will continue to attend school on different days and receive substantial home assignments to ensure that they are focusing on the syllabus; Weekly meetings will be held every Friday between the Ministry of Education, the contractor, the consultant for the project and school officials to ensure that work to be done over the next 5 weeks are accomplished; The school will allocate additional time to classes during the next 2 terms to make up for lost time during the first term. The Ministry of Education wishes to express its appreciation to all concerned for their continued understanding.
