CARICOM SUMMIT ON FOOD PRICES TODAY
Caribbean leaders are meeting in Guyana this morning to discuss rising food prices at the 12th special conference of Heads of Government. The leaders are meeting at the request of Grenada's Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell for a summit on high and rising food prices in the region. Dr. Mitchell wrote to CARICOM Chairman, Prime Minister of Barbados Owen Arthur early last month calling for the meeting to find solutions to the problem. The leaders will also discuss the current status of negotiations with Europe on the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). The negotiations with the European Union (EU), were scheduled to end in time for the application of the new agreement by January 1. Reprinted from radioja.com
