CATEGORY:POLITICS --------------------- INSIDE GRENADA SATURDAY December 08, 2007 from the NDC (National Democratic Congress) Joseph Anthony Gilbert brings to the table a disciplined approach to the social and economic development of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. He was born and bred in St. Patrick and he now seeks to represent this constituency at the highest level. He knows his people well and is anxious to address the issues which they have identified to him as pressing. These include: • High levels of unemployment in a country where there is so much that needs to be done • The gross neglect of the agricultural/fishing industry, thereby having a devastating effect on rural constituencies • Rapidly deteriorating infrastructure, particularly feeder roads to farms • Failure to develop tourism, especially eco-tourism and heritage tourism • The poor housing stock, especially since the passing of recent hurricanes Compounding these problems is the high cost of living together with a corrupt government. It is because of these blatant deprivations that he has committed himself to politics under the National Democratic Congress banner. He simply wants to make a contribution to improving the standard of living and the well being of his people. Joseph Gilbert received a solid technical education on Grenada. He then went on to the University of Camaguey to study Civil Engineering. He has worked as an Industrial Arts Teacher and a Civil Engineer Project Manager. He has been involved in several civil engineering projects that have benefited rural communities. Joseph Gilbert has given sterling service to his community. He has served for many years as the President of the Catholic Youth Organization and President of the Marli Sports and Community Development Organization. He strongly believes that rural development and community development in general are essential to improve the quality of life of his constituents and the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Joseph and his wife Janice have 6 children. He is most concerned about the future of our young people. He needs your support to get elected and to serve you in Parliament as part of an NDC Government that will usher in a period of peace, prosperity and progress.
