GRENADIANS NOW HAVE TO PAY MORE FOR GAS AND DIESEL

INSIDE GRENADA WEDNESDAY December 12,2007 by Wallace J.A GRENADA: Grenadians are now expected to pay more for cooking gas, gasoline, kerosene and diesel. The increase in prices comes just days after Caribbean leaders met to discuss the rising cost of living in the region and examine ways in which the region can better cope with this major problem. The increase in fuel costs was announced on Monday by the Grenada Energy Division. The division stated that the new retail prices were calculated based on ex-refinery prices for the period October 05 to November 30, 2007. In Grenada, the change in prices is as follows: Gasoline has moved from $12.63 per gallon to $13.05; Diesel, from $11.78 per gallon to $13.06 and Kerosene, from $9.22 per gallon to $10.53 per gallon. As for the L.P.G cooking gas, the 20 lbs cylinder has moved from $ 37.15 to $41.00 while the 100 lbs cylinder has moved from $183.25 to $202.50. On the sister isle of Carriacou, the price increases are as follows: Gasoline has now moved from $12.52 per gallon to $13.21; Diesel from $11.94 per gallon to $13.22 and Kerosene from $9.68 to $10.69. The price for L.P.G cooking gas has moved from $41.65 to 45.50 and the 100 lbs cylinder from $197.75 to $317.00. In Petite Martinique, the price for a gallon of gasoline has moved from $9.52 to $10.21; a gallon of diesel from $8.94 to $10.22 and a gallon of kerosene from $9.38 to $10.69. The Grenada Government has advised consumers to act wisely and try to conserve energy as much as possible. Government also promised to continue to monitor the movement in the price of gas and adjust the prices accordingly.
