CAROL SIMON'S FUNERAL TODAY
Funeral services for the late Carol Simon, the popular Grenadian native who was shot and killed last weekend in Brooklyn, will take place today. The death of the 35-year-old mother and aspiring nurse has left New York's Grenadian community in deep mourning. At a press conference on Thursday her 9-year-old son, Kieron, begged the killer who cut down his mother with a stray bullet to surrender as cops released a photo of a suspect they want to question. "Whoever killed my mom," Kieron said softly from the Crown Heights sidewalk where his mother was gunned down, "I want them to come and give themselves up." Police have identified the suspect as Darius Dubarry, 27, and asked anyone with information on his whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. The family has established a fund for Kieron's education and another to help pay for shipping his mother's remains home to Grenada. To donate, send checks to Washington Mutual, 391 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11216. The account number for the educational fund is 4413879862. The number for the funeral fund is 4413879870. Checks should be made payable to Simon's brother, Alwin Simon. Simon's wake will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Church on Avenue D in Brooklyn. Her funeral will follow.
