GRENADA CRICKET ASSOCIATION PRESS RELEASE |
|
|
INSIDE GRENADA
DECEMBER 21, 2007
From the Grenada Cricket Association
The Grenada Cricket Association takes a strong objection to recent statements circulating in the local and regional media of strike action by national players preparing for the 2008 Stanford 20/20 Tournament.
The allegations said that the players were striking because of unpaid money from the 2007 competition.
We view this attack as an attempt to tarnish the good name of the Association and to create mischief and disharmony among players.
There is no strike, there will be no strike and we are not aware of unpaid money to players.
The Association is aware that 90% of the players are not part of this effort to destabilize the Association.
We would continue to work diligently with all stakeholders including the players to promote and advance cricket.
Finally, we want to assure the players, the cricketing fraternity and the general public that we will remain focus on the issue at hand and continue to maintain high ethical standards as we strive to build a strong and united team.
