SEN. PRIME WRITES SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS AGAIN!
INSIDE GRENADA JANUARY 04, 2008 From the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) The following letter to the Supervisor of Elections, Ms. Nadica McIntyre, was distributed to the media at a media conference called by the NDC on Wednesday (January 2). Meanwhile, Ms. McIntyre is quoted as saying "Everyone knows that we had a problem with the computers at the office before the list was printed." December 30, 2007 Ms. Nadica McIntyre Supervisor of Elections Parliamentary Elections Office Woolwich Road St. George’s Dear Ms. McIntyre, Re: Concerns Regarding The Electoral List and The Continuous Registration Process. Further to my letter of December 19, 2007, I am placing on record the fact that there has been no official response to the concerns raised therein. In my last letter to you, I made the point that the time given for scrutiny of the published List, or rather the Addendum, and the request for persons to scrutinize and report discrepancies was inappropriate, given the holiday season. We are yet to receive any response directly or indirectly. It is therefore incumbent on your office to alert the general public of any changes that have been agreed to in this regard. I will further point out that should your office proceed to insist on this January 4th deadline, then you would be seen as being rather insensitive, since no serious scrutiny would have been done over the Christmas and New Year holidays. Already, a cursory glance at the List published for the period ending September 30th 2007, has further compounded the problem alluded to in my letter of October 26, 2007. In some instances work already done with regard to purging the Lists, appears to have gone in vain, since names previously struck off have reappeared. Additionally, the addendum recently published to the June 30th 2007 list is not included in the September 30th 2007 list which is the current list. In actual fact, we have discovered for example, in the constituency of St. Andrew South West a total of (4,876) registered voters are on the June 30th 2007 list as compared to (4,339) registered voters in the September 30th 2007 list. This is a contradiction in and of itself, thereby rendering the current list unreliable and inaccurate. This is a very troubling affair, and is inimical to the ethos of “continuous registration”.- which is to update the process and make it more reliable. This situation cannot be allowed to continue without some assessment of the true situation regarding the operations at the Electoral Office. We have a duty to protect the integrity of the Voters List and we intend to spare no effort in fulfilling our mandate. We are truly, deeply concerned and wish to request a meeting at your earliest convenience, very early in the New Year, to address some pertinent issues. I trust that 2008 would be a very productive year for you and your staff. God’s richest Blessings. Respectfully, ……………………………………… Senator George W. Prime C.c. Governor General, Sir Daniel Williams Mr. Francis McBarnette – OAS Representative – Grenada

SEN. PRIME WRITES SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS AGAIN!
Well as for me the last time I looked at the list which was within the time stated and for the constituency stated, there were names missing of people I know and who are alive and living in Grenada and who have always been registered. In fact, at the time I was just having a cursory look at a list when I made that observation. My question is does one have to register every year or ever so often(5 years for example)?
