DON'T CRITICISE LIAT, HELP IT-- HUMPHREY
A leading Grenadian trade unionist has urged Caribbean countries to give financial support to regional airline Liat instead of criticising its shortcomings. Chester Humphrey, who's also a senator, says at the moment only the governments of Barbados, Antigua/Barbuda and St Vincent and Grenadines are subsidising Liat. Liat's at the centre of a debate on the quality of service and high airfares The governments of Grenada and St Lucia have both expressed dissatisfaction with the service being provided by the regional carrier, and hinted that they'll resort to alternatives. Senator Humphrey says their efforts would be better placed supporting Liat. He chairs the Negotiating Committee of the Standing Regional Consultative Council of Trade Unions within Liat.
