INSIDE GRENADA JANUARY 11, 2008 by Team Grenada Around 5:30 pm yesterday (Thursday January 10), while plying the Grenville to St. George’s route along the Eastern Main Road, the driver of minibus #HAA143 and his passengers had the fright of their lives - The driver of the bus apparently lost complete control of the vehicle which started skidding on the main road, veered off the highway and ended up in the yard of a family in the La Tante area. According to a few of the persons who witnessed the vehicular mishap, a few other vehicles would have skidded in that same part of the road sometime before. Some of the persons interviewed by Grenadian Connection (GC) were of the opinion that the accident could be attributed to an oil spill coming from a near-by construction site. Reports from persons at the scene of the accident indicate that at least two persons would have sustained slight injuries to the face and torso but the driver (Raul), his conductor (Paul) and the rest of the passengers are believed to be alright. At the time GC arrived on the scene of the accident, there was a crowd of approximately one hundred (100) persons looking on as a truck, fitted with a crane, hoisted the wrecked bus back onto the road. The accident caused an interruption in the smooth flow of traffic along that portion of the Eastern Main Road for about an hour.
