INSIDE GRENADA JANUARY 12, 2008 by Team Grenada A number of curious onlookers along with relatives of Cosley Beharry of Maran, St. John’s gathered at the Gouyave Magistrate’s Court yesterday to observe legal proceedings against Kelvin ‘Pussy’ Antoine of Black Bay, St. John’s. Cosley Beharry was allegedly shot and killed at his residence on Christmas Day by forty-seven year old ‘Pussy’. The arrest of Kelvin ‘Pussy’ Antoine by the police and his subsequent appearance in court, where a murder charge was formally read out to him, has brought to an end growing speculation in the country that he may have gotten away with causing the death of Beharry because of his alleged ‘connections.’ The Beharry family was believed to have been planning a march / demonstration as a way of showing their frustration with what they perceived to be the slow pace at which the wheels of justice were spinning. Meanwhile, the policemen who escorted ‘Pussy’ to the Gouyave court came in for a fair amount of criticism from some members of the public. Some have expressed concerns over the fact that he was not in handcuffs and at one time, he appeared to have freed himself from the grip of the police when entering the court. Some members of the public thought the policemen were a bit too casual and that they looked somewhat unprofessional during that particular incident. Antoine has been remanded to the Richmond Hill Prisons and is due to re-appear in court on February 1, 2008.
