INSIDE GRENADA JANUARY 14, 2008 by Wallace J.A ST. ANDREW’S: Progress Park in the ‘Big Parish’ of St.Andrew will come alive this Saturday (January 19) as the St.Andrew’s Cricket Council kicks-off the 2008 St.Andrew’s Cricket Competition with a Twenty/20 Classic. The match is dubbed ‘The North-South Classic’ and will feature some of the most outstanding cricketers in St.Andrew’s during the last parish competition. This exciting event is expected to commence at 1 PM. To add to the entertainment and fanfare at Progress Park, the main sponsor of the cricket league, The Grenada Breweries Ltd. - makers of Carib beer - will be playing an integral part in Saturday’s function, proving to the nation why it has earned the enviable reputation as one of the island’s most loved corporate citizens. Carib is expected to ‘spice-up’ the environment at the cricket match with a ‘Happy Hour’ accompanied by live DJ music. Cricketers in Saturday’s game will have the chance to win monetary prizes for excellent performances. Taking a catch will result in that player getting EC$5 and taking one wicket will be rewarded with $5. The players making the most runs in each inning will get $50, the persons taking the most wickets in each inning will get $50 and the ‘man of the match’ will get $100.
