WE ARE THE CHANGE!
INSIDE GRENADA JANUARY 26, 2008 from the New National Party (NNP) Since the Barbados General Election of January 15, 2008, which saw the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) of Owen Arthur suffering defeat at the hands of the opposition Democratic Labour Party (DLP) of David Thompson, the main opposition NDC party of Grenada has jumped on the bandwagon chanting “time for change in Grenada”. The party’s general secretary even went as far as to suggest that the NNP will be removed from office when General Elections are held because of the “mood for change”. As the party leader of the NNP painstakingly pointed out in his comment on the Barbados General Election, no two political scenarios are the same. Each has things peculiar to them that make them unique. The NDC is not the DLP and Tillman Thomas is no David Thompson. Historically, the DLP was never scarred by the institutionalization of an authoritarian temper in the soul of its leadership that led to death, destruction and ruin. The fact is, in Grenada today, the NNP is the change! It is the party of renewal and new ideas. The politics of the NNP Administration is the Politics of Change. In the collective wisdom of the party political change is the expansion, modification, re-evaluation and determination of transformational policies and programmes designed to have maximum impact on the lives of the greatest number of persons. This is the distinquishing hallmark of the NNP Administration of DR. Keith Mitchell and no amount of NDC propaganda can erase this fact. We are the party of change! We have some seven new and promising candidates who will be entering representational politics for the first time. Five of our fifteen candidates in the next general election are women. Young Grenadians are logging on in greater numbers to the progress of the party. We have changed the politics and industrial landscape of Grenada for the better even after two hurricanes. The NNP Administration has been on a course of governance changing the quality of people’s lives for the better. We have slained the demons of pot holes on our roads, the lack of water and electricity in some districts and villages, dilapidated hospitals, the lack of sporting facilities, a mismanaged economy and more. We are the Change!
