GRENADIANS PROTEST
At least 50 people on Friday marched through the streets of St. Georges, the capital of Grenada, demanding that Venezuela's president Hugo Chavez revive maritime boundary delimitation talks with Grenada. The protestors carried placards and shouted slogans while they braved the sweltering afternoon heat in what was dubbed an independence march for oil and gas. The march was organised by two minority opposition parties- the People's Labour Movement of former attorney general Dr. Francis Alexis and the Grenada United Labour Party led by lawyer Reynold Benjamin. The main purpose of the march was to deliver a letter to the Venezuelan Embassy to be relayed to President Chavez, calling on him to make a public statement declaring that his country is prepared to begin negotiations with Grenada on maritime boundary de-limitations.
