SAASS DEFEATS WESTERHALL SECONDARY IN INTER-SECONDARY S...
INSIDE GRENADA FEBRUARY 17, 2008 by Wallace J.A GRENVILLE: The St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School (SAASS) on Friday of last week (February 15) defeated the Westerhall Secondary School in an Inter-secondary schools’ basketball match played at the Grenville Basketball Court. The boys in navy-blue (SAASS) were able to rack-up a total of 65 points by the time the final whistle blew, while the visitors (Westerhall), were only able to muster 41 points. The star player for SAASS was Karrel Collier, who scored 22 points in the game. He received solid support from Shakir Simmons, who scored 20 points and Quinton Rennie, who netted 13 points. SAASS is unbeaten in the competition thus far having won all three games already played. They have already defeated the St. David’s Catholic Secondary School and the Grenville Secondary School in the current tournament. On Tuesday of this week, SAASS is expected to take on the Boca Secondary School at the Carenage court while on Thursday, they will be doing battle against the Grenada Boys’ Secondary School at the same venue. SAASS is the defending champion in this tournament, having won the inter-secondary school’s basketball competition the last time it took place in 2006. Coach of the SAASS team, Mr. Jervis DaBreo believes that his team should make it through to the finals of the tournament this year and by that time, he is very optimistic that his team can once again pull off a victory and clinch the championship honors in 2008.
