INSIDE GRENADA MARCH 03, 2008 from the RGPF Paradise Murder Update --------------------------- Ms. Annicita Greaves, a 46 year old resident of Paradise in St Andrews was officially charged for the murder of Richard Gilbert Flemming. Mr. Richard Gilbert Flemming was a 69 year old resident of Paradise Members of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Eastern Division responded to a report during the early hours of Saturday March 1st, and found Flemming with a single stab wound to the chest, that caused his death. Annicita Greaves would make her first appearance before the Grenville Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 4th March at 9.00 am. Darbeau Murder --------------------- Nicholas Gilbert a 25 year old student of Darbeau in St.George’s was officially charged for the death of his brother Anthony Gilbert also of Darbeau in St.George’s. Anthony Gilbert was 24 years old. Anthony received multiple chop wounds during a domestic dispute on the evening of Saturday March 1st 2008. Nicholas Gilbert was a registered student and Anthony operates a small business in the St. George’s area. Nicholas Gilbert will make his first appearance before the St. George’s Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 4th March ’08 at 9.00 a.m.. Lucas St. Incident update (Alleged spying by police ---------------------------------------------------- officer) ----------- Leader of the Opposition Hon. Tillman Thomas visited the Office of the Commissioner of Police this morning to officially file a complaint as a result of an incident on Lucas Street last Tuesday February 26th 2008. Mr. Thomas informed Commissioner James that during a private meeting of the National Democratic Congress a member of the Royal Grenada Police Force was caught recording the proceedings, without the permission and knowledge of those assembled. Mr. Thomas says he considers this to be a serious violation of the rights provided by the constitution of the State and hope the matter is immediately investigated and the appropriate action taken. The complaint was presented in document form to the Commissioner of Police. Commissioner Winston James assured Mr. Thomas that the complaint would be investigated, and requested the cooperation of his membership as the investigation moves forward. Mr. Thomas was accompanied by Deputy Political Leader of the N.D.C Mr. George Prime and two other members of the Party. Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Raymond Charles and Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Franklyn Redhead also attended the meeting. Lucas St. Incident Update (Alleged beating of ------------------------------------------------ officer) ---------- Members of the Criminal Investigation Department today interrogated Mr. Joseph Gilbert, Devon Romain and Wilby Stewart as part of the on going investigation into complaints made by a member of the Royal Grenada Police Force that he was detained against his will, allegedly beaten and some of his personal property taken away during an altercation that occurred on Lucas St, in St. George’s on Tuesday 26th February ’08 in the evening. Mr. Joseph Gilbert was accompanied Attorneys Claudette Joseph and Anselm Clouden, while Stewart and Romain were accompanied Mr. Anselm Clouden. The sessions were conducted at the C.I.D. headquarters in St. George’s. Commissioner of Police Mr. Winston James on Wednesday 27th February ‘08 directed the C.I.D. to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations made by the member of the R.G.P.F. The investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department will continue.
